Cassie

An avid learner, Cassie Roman is at her best when faced with challenges that force her to think in fresh, strategic ways – a skill she has practiced throughout nearly a decade of rock climbing. Admittedly a unique comparison, she finds that rock climbing and reputation management are surprisingly similar. Both demand dedication and practice, are consistently changing in new and exciting ways and, when done well, appear effortless. Between her two interests, Cassie has discovered that a tiny shift in perspective can completely change a situation and provide the boost necessary to reach new heights.

Cassie joined Pineapple in June 2014 as an account coordinator before being promoted to assistant account executive in January 2015. Since then, she has assisted with the communication needs for the rebranding of a newly acquired bank – helping to share the client’s values and vision for community banking. While seeking opportunities to position another client as a thought leader, Cassie was able to secure an important keynote speaking opportunity for the CEO of Uponor with the Manufacturers Alliance’s Manufacturer of the Year Awards. She also regularly blogs about industry news and trends on behalf of our clients and is the editor of Pineapple’s monthly book recap, Bookmark This!

Prior to joining Pineapple, Cassie facilitated fundraising and media relations for OneVillage Partners, a nonprofit focused on rural development in Sierra Leone. She also developed branding and social media strategies, outreach materials and key messaging for the organization. With her support, OneVillage Partners was able to triple its fundraising, including nearly $300,000 for Ebola relief, and bring attention to its unique philosophy. In 2014, she helped OneVillage Partners join the international conversation on the Ebola crisis with features in Newsweek, CTV, BBC Radio and Reuters.

Her past experience has included writing feature stories for newsletters and donor outreach for the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Scholarship America and the Minnesota Zoo and planning large-scale events including Scholarship America’s 50th Anniversary Gala and the Minnesota Zoo’s Beastly Ball. Additional accounts she has worked on include the Home and Garden Show, the Twin Cities Auto Show and Universal Studios.

Indulging her love of the arts, Cassie also assisted with media relations for the Guthrie Theater, helping to secure local media coverage for its 50th Anniversary season and shows such as An Iliad, Twelfth Night and Nice Fish.

Cassie is a member of the Minnesota chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and volunteers with the Communications Committee. She previously assisted with the chapter’s media relations activities and is currently the editor of the Perspectives blog.

She graduated with a degree in strategic communications from the University of Minnesota.
